Detoxes - not just for Springtime

Detoxes aren’t only for the springtime!! It’s something we should get into the habit of doing on a regular basis. And by “detox” I don’t mean Master Cleansing or only juicing or something drastic. It’s all in the foods you eat!! And how often you eat them! That’s what is most important!

Why should you detox?

Our bodies are constantly exposed to toxins. They are in your foods – think chemicals, artificial sweeteners, hormones, antibiotics, preservatives. Yep… that’s in your food. Crazy, I know. Another reason to go for organic foods, humanely raised, pasture/grass fed, no antibiotics and no hormones!! We are also exposed to toxins in the air we breathe, in the water we drink, in our anti-perspirant and other products we use on our bodies. But all is not lost!! There are things you can do on a daily basis to support your body in the detox process.

Foods to eat

  1. Kale and dark, leafy greens
  2. Garlic and onions
  3. Beets and apples
  4. Lemons and limes
  5. Lentils

Just to give you a taste – try this yummy Winter Detox Smoothie

3 kale leaves, de-stalked

1 organic apple, cored

½ organic lemon, juiced

1 organic beet, cooked

16 oz coconut water or purified water

*Blend until smooth & drink up to your good health!! :)
